As a teacher and teaching artist, I advocate for the power of music in our culture and our lives. I love working with curious and motivated musicians on increasing the impact of their creative work.
Individual Sessions
Repertoire Development
Individualized work towards your musical goals, with an eye towards professional and musical development. Whether you're refining repertoire for a concert, preparing to record an audition tape, or looking for new ideas, I'd love to work with you. I can help you identify broader themes within your playing and connect the dots between technical challenges, interpretive goals, and musical communication. Similarly, I can help you develop the skills of skill development, blending design thinking, deliberate practice, and the power of generalization. Depending on needs and capabilities, these sessions can operate in a synchronous or asynchronous fashion.

Group Sessions
Perhaps you have a GROUP of such people. I'd be happy to speak with your cohort about a wide variety of issues, ranging from the tiniest percussion picayunes to larger issues facing our field. Building community through music is my passion, and I love working with chamber ensembles and larger cohorts.
Group Lessons:
I love working multiple musicians at once in the model of a European conservatory, great for students working on similar repertoire or developing similar skill-sets. As I student, I learned more from my peers in group settings than from my individual lessons. These sessions allow students who are to receive personalized instruction while developing a deeper understanding of repertoire and pedagogical practices, while maintaining a sense of community among distanced studio members.
Chamber Music Coaching
These coaching blend the pacing and rigor of a traditional chamber music coaching with the increased technological capacity of digital learning, allowing for a flexible experience that can meet a group at any stage of its development. I work with small or medium-sized percussion and mixed chamber ensembles, and review recordings, play live, or offer feedback in front of a larger audience.
Presentations
I give presentations designed to fill in the gaps within most percussion curricula, designed to help students unlock their individual potential through collaboration and expose groups to significant repertoire. Although I tailor each presentation to the needs of the group, examples include:
Developing Percussive Expressivity
Percussion repertoire
Representation in new percussion music
Developing chamber ensembles
Commissioning new works
Performing and recording with live electronics
I bring to all these sessions my broad experience as a percussionist, my expertise as a project planner, curator, and producer, and my interdisciplinary curiosity.
Workshops
I present frequent workshops for composers about writing for percussion, including performances of brand new works and lectures on significant works for percussion.
